INFO: Design internship with Milwaukee based non-profit organization, PEARLS For Teen Girls.
I was given a series of branding projects that consisted of me solidifying their brand and creating guidelines to follow. Having only the PEARLS logo and color palette to work with, I created various quick flyers and social media graphics and long-term projects including updating their donation envelopes, their annual award application and a mentorship inspired postcard.
"PEARLS For Teen Girls is improving quality of life and strengthening our community one girl at a time by empowering young women with self-development tools, guidance and support to strive for better, brighter futures by living out the PEARLS values: Personal Responsibility, Empathy, Awareness, Respect, Leadership and Support."

REMITTANCE DONATION ENVELOPES
This donation envelope was a challenge since I’ve never designed an envelope before and had limited space but lots of information. For branding graphics, this creation of the overlaying curve shape with PEARLS colors has become the staple we have decided to use for any assets across the brand. I designed simple icons to add playfulness to help reflect who donors would be assisting and the signature purple stands out and works in our favor to give this envelope the PEARLS look that they didn’t have before.
PEARLS GIRLS OF THE YEAR APPLICATION
Another PEARLS asset that I have updated was their annual PEARLS Girls of The Year application. This award is given to girls in the program and facilitated by the staff, so the focus here was to create a functional and eye-catching layout design. Having majority text to work with, I designed this application to be the exact opposite of what was done before by utilizing branding assets other than the logo. The typography used for the header is Montserrat, which we finalized for the brand due to its bold and simple look and body copy being Helvetica for usability. I also was given the challenge to make this document user-friendly for non-designers, so all information can be updated in PDF editing software.
MENTORSHIP POSTCARD
Working at a non-profit, I had to wear many hats including the copywriting one. For this project, I designed a mentorship inspired postcard. Using the colors and font family, I kept the wording simple but relatable to all audiences that PEARLS works with. Utilizing the classic purple, I took charge in designing long-lasting and modern work. The PEARLS visual brand is on its way to be as beautiful and progressive as the organization.
PROMOTIONAL ROLL-UP SIGNS
I was given the task to design travel signage for PEARLS tables that promoted the organization for both prospective girls and donor audiences. The directors wanted to incorporate the PEARLS values, personal outcomes of members and what donations are contributing to. The continuity of the brand colors and font family is seen along with the signature curved graphics, I designed icons to reflect the mission of the organization and added photography for an emotional aspect. The designs were well received by the entire staff and it never gets old seeing my work printed and praised.
